Fred A. Koth Jr.

CHEROKEE, Iowa - Fred A. Koth Jr., 65 of Cherokee passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at his home.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cherokee, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee.

Fred was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Hanover, Iowa to Fred and Louisa (Peters) Koth. He graduated from Galva High School in 1958. He married Synthia Sanders on Feb. 14, 1960, at Hanover, Iowa. He had lived in Cherokee since 1959; prior to this he lived on a farm north of Galva, Iowa. He had worked for Harley Creamery in Cherokee. He farmed and worked for Wilson Foods Corp. and later Continental Deli for many years. Following his retirement, he managed the Cherokee V.F.W. Club for three years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and loved traveling, especially to Alaska, Wyoming, Montana and Canada.

Survivors include a son Jay Koth of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Arnold Koth and his wife Verona of Galva, Frank Koth of Schaller, Iowa, and Marlin Koth and his wife Ada of Chico, Calif.; three sisters, Gladys Lillie of DeWitt, Iowa, Melinda Thies and her husband Frank of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Delores Troyer of New Paris, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wilbur and Harlan Koth and two sisters, Berniece Koth and LuEtta Prescott.
