CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Cole Jay Runyan, 19, of Cherokee died Thursday, March 10, 2005, in a one-car vehicle accident near Ruthven, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee with Pastor Richard Arndt officiating. Burial will be at Cherokee Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Cole Jay Runyan was born Nov. 8, 1985, in Sioux City, the son of Roy and Norma (Medick) Runyan. He attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Washington High School in 2004. He was currently enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa, majoring in ag business.

Cole enjoyed farming and working with livestock. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with friends and family.

Survivors include his mother, Norma Bush and her husband, Philip, of Cherokee; his father, Roy Runyan of Larrabee, Iowa; a sister, Alicia Mae Runyan of Cherokee; a step-brother, Eric Bush of Cherokee; two half-brothers, Bob Runyan of Sioux City and James Runyan of Little Falls, Minn.; grandparents, Norman Medick of Cleghorn, Iowa, Roy Runyan of Cherokee and Mary Ann Bush of Cleghorn; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Colleen Medick and Reta Runyan; and a step-grandfather, Lester Bush.
