CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Dorinne Marie Schleef, 84, formerly of Cherokee died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with a parish Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Condolences may be sent on-line to www.greenwoodfuneral.com .

Dorinne was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Cherokee, to John and Elsie (Main) Odle. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1938.

On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Marlin P. Schleef in Cherokee. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1992. During her life, she had worked for Randall's Super Valu and K-Mart, but she was a mother first to her eight children.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and canning.

Survivors include her daughters and husbands, Mary Kathryn and Dennis Langholdt of Boone, Iowa, Monica J. and Jerry Anfinson of Morristown, Tenn., Melanie R. and Ron Robinson of Sheldon, Iowa, Molly D. and David Galm of Spencer, Iowa; sons and wives, Marlin J. Schleef of Larrabee, Iowa, Michael P. and Shari Schleef of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Mark A. and Staci Schleef of Cherokee, Matthew E. and Janel Schleef of Cherokee; sisters, Evelyn Letsche, Marcella and her husband, Dado Blankenbaker and Virginia and her husband, Jim Wolcott, all of Cherokee; a brother and wife, Cletus and Bernice Odle of Cherokee; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a grandson, James M. Schleef.
