CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Lorraine Brownmiller, 74, of Cherokee died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Cherokee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Marcus Holy Name Cemetery at Marcus, Iowa. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. On-line condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com .

Lorraine Reinert was born March 14, 1931, in Cherokee, to Andrew and Veronica (Cook) Reinert. She attended school in Maryhill and Cherokee.

Following her formal schooling, she married Harold "Archie" Brownmiller in Cherokee. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2002. During her life, she had been employed at the Green Lantern Restaurant, Sheffield Hotel and Restaurant, Rhoadeside Greenhouse and finally, as an aide at the Cherokee Villa.

Survivors include daughters, Sandy Jones of Cherokee and Juanita Chinn and her special friend, Bill Cates of Cherokee; sisters, Hilda Carstens of Quimby, Iowa, Rita Dilocker of Omaha, Neb., and Carrie Reinert of Spencer, Iowa; a brother, Vernon Reinert and his wife, Vonnie of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Wendy Kruger, Tina Back, Jason Joines, Jodi Joines, Zach Chinn, Kyle Brownmiller, Jeremy Brownmiller and Scott Brownmiller; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Lorraine in death were her parents; her husband, Archie in 2002; a son, Andy Brownmiller; a daughter, Vicki Brownmiller; twin granddaughters in 1976; brothers, Leroy, Cyril, Clarence and Lawrence Reinert; and a sister, Rose.
