BATTLE CREEK, Iowa -- Violet Mae Clark, 74, of Battle Creek passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa, with the Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Violet was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Sac County, Iowa, to Lovell and Golda (Gibbins) Pruett. She started school in Sulphur Springs, Iowa, and finished grade school in Storm Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Aurelia High School in Aurelia, Iowa, in 1949.

She was married to Ronald J. Clark of Quimby, Iowa, on Aug. 7, 1954 in Jackson, Minn. The couple lived in Rapid City, S.D., for many years. Ronald passed away May 25, 1991. She had worked as a bookkeeper in various places in Rapid City until retiring in November 1996. She then moved back to Battle Creek to live.

She was a long time member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Rapid City. She enjoyed reading, doing needle work and camping.

She is survived by two brothers, LeRoy William Buxton and his wife, Linda of Franktown, Colo., and Marvin L. Buxton of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Marilyn K. Larson of Glendale, Calif.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Gerald E. and Carol Clark of Battle Creek; a sister-in-law and her husband, Marie and John O'Dell of Rossville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
