Beulah K. Freed

CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Beulah K. Freed, 89, of Cherokee passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Careage Hills in Cherokee.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church, north of Meriden, Iowa, with Clint Hogrefe officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Beulah was born May 23, 1916, in Cherokee, to Axel and Anna (Erlandson) Anderson. She graduated from Quimby (Iowa) High School in 1934.

She was married to Marvin E. Freed on March 19, 1939, in Cherokee. She had lived in Cherokee since 1980, prior to this on a farm in O'Brien County for 40 years. She was originally from Quimby. She had worked in the ASCS Office and at J.C. Penney Store in Cherokee.

She was a member of Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. She also was a member of the P.T.A. in Paullina, Iowa, White Cross and the Women's Missionary Society at Oakdale. She enjoyed reading and embroidery.

She is survived by five children and spouses, Annette and Willis Gebert of Hartley, Iowa, Lance and Jill Freed of Paullina, Iowa, Gordon and Debra Freed of New Virginia, Iowa, Craig Freed of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Janelle and Allen Schuknecht of Primghar, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters, Nicole Cain and Maya Schuknecht; three sisters-in-law, Opal Freed of Paullina, Jean Freed of Wapheton, Iowa, and Ruth Freed of Hutchinson, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin on Nov. 20, 1982; two brothers in infancy; and a sister in infancy.

Pallbearers will be her 10 grandchildren, Wade Gebert, Julie Cain, Kristine Alcon, Preston Freed, Natalie Anderson, Christopher Freed, Adam Schuknecht, Hilary Schuknecht, Scott Schuknecht and Jim Jager.
