Larry Paul Snapp, 48, of Sioux City, Iowa, and formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, died Friday, January 27, 2006 at a Sioux City hospital, following a heart attack.

Services will be held Wednesday February 1, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home. Larry was born December 18, 1957 in Cherokee, Iowa to Wilbur and Irene (Becker) Snapp. He was educated in Cherokee, Iowa and graduated from Washington High School in 1976. Larry joined the U.S. Army that year and served at Fort Richardson, Alaska and Fort Seward, Georgia. In 1984 he began working for Hy-Vee and was currently Assistant Meat Department Manager at the Southern Hills store.

Larry’s girls were the most important part of his life. He was active as a coach and fan in all of their activities. He was a very outgoing and generous person. He was known for his “friendly smile in every aisle” and for going out of his way to help people. He loved to spend his time outdoors. He enjoyed working in his yard and on the farm, riding his motorcycle and ATV, fishing, hunting and adding to his collectibles. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, USC Trojans, and the LA Lakers.

He is survived by his fiancée, Rhiannon Hanna, and their daughter, Julia Regina; former wife Tonya (Peters) Grace, of Sioux City, Iowa and daughters from their marriage: Jaclyn Kaye, and her friend Cesar Davila, of Sioux City; Jayme Leigh and her friend Tyler Schmidt of Ames, Iowa; Jennifer Lynn, of Sioux City; sisters, Holly Swartzbaugh and Jack Vermie, of Mitchellville, Iowa; Lisa Perrin, and her husband, Timothy, of Cherokee, Iowa; his twin sister, Laurie Bibler, and her friend, Arlan Daum; Joy Westcott, all of Cherokee, Iowa; Sara Snapp, and her friend, Jimmie, of Vancouver, Washington; brothers, John Snapp, of Waterloo, Iowa; Jim and J.Peter Snapp, of Cherokee, Iowa; Steven Snapp, and his wife, Kristin, of Hutchinson, Minnesota. He will also be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a sister (Mary Jane)

The families of Larry wish everyone to know that his generous and caring heart will live on even in his passing because he chose to be an organ donor.
