William H. Troth, 66, of 414 Indian, Cherokee, Iowa died Wednesday February 15, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa following a sudden illness.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Fr. John Heekin and Fr. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will Friday from 9: 00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Bill was born July 23, 1939 in Underwood, South Dakota to William H. and Gertrude (Callison) Troth Sr. He attended school in Wessington, South Dakota, and graduated from Wessington High School in 1957 with a class of 8. On November 26, 1966 he married Carolyn Kremer in Miller, South Dakota.

Bill raced with the IMCA International Motor Racing Association during the 1960’s and also drove truck for Wilson Trucking in Miller, South Dakota.

Bill and Carolyn moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he was employed as a division manager for Sears. He was transferred by Sears to Sioux City, Iowa in 1972.

In late 1974 he entered partnership with Lyle and Alice Poulson in Cherokee and developed a wonderful relationship, operating their business as Bushlow’s Inc.

Bill had many interests, serving on the Cherokee City Council for many years. He also was on the advisory board for Northwest Iowa Community College, board of Mid-Sioux Opportunities, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Cherokee Rodeo Board, Cherokee Industrial Corporation, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, Cherokee Flying Club, The Red Power Club. He also worked with the Iowa-Nebraska Farm Equipment Association, serving in many capacities on the board.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Claudia Comstock, and her husband, Eric, of Cherokee, Iowa; son, Wade Troth, of Kansas City, Missouri; a grandson Aiden Comstock; mother, Gertrude Troth, of Huron, South Dakota; brothers, Dick Troth, of Columbia, Missouri; Jim Troth, and his wife, Judy, of Wessington, South Dakota; sister, June Fernholz, and her husband, Don, of Wadsworth, Ohio; uncles, John Troth, and his wife, Beverly, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Ralph Trevillyan, of Buffalo, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his father (William Troth, Sr.) and a sister (Phyllis Troth).
