Jacob Wayne Dreier, 18, of Aurelia, Iowa died Monday March 13, 2006 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Services will be held Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., with a family prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Jake beat us all to heaven on March 13, 2006. He was born March 8, 1988 in Cherokee, Iowa to Roger and Laurie (Beshey) Dreier. The nurse’s knew immediately that he was going to be a football player. He attended school in Aurelia and was currently a senior at Aurelia High School. Jake was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, celebrating the sacraments throughout his life, being confirmed in the Catholic faith in 2005. Jake was a 9 year member of the Junior Pioneers 4-H Club. He won many grand champion ribbons for his woodworking, photography, art work, at the Cherokee County Fair, and also exhibited at the Iowa State Fair. He was also a ready volunteer for community and church service projects. Jake also exhibited at a show at the Sioux City Art Center when he was in junior high school.
Jake played great second base when he was in Little League and junior high baseball. He played soccer for 8 years with gusto. In high school, Jake helped out in quiet ways, in his parish, with work that needed to be done like ditch cleanup and assisting with the Sioux City Gospel Mission. He also helped with computer maintenance and technology at his school. Jake always helped out around his home, church, and community without complaint. He even made his rogueing and detasseling job fun for himself and his buddies! He was currently a great pizza maker for Godfather’s Pizza in Cherokee, Iowa.
In school, Jake participated in band, golf, and was a force on his beloved Aurelia Bulldog 8 man football team, playing line both ways. He was a quiet, but effective leader, and a calming presence for the team. Jake is an awesome artist, computer whiz, and creative writer. He loved pop art, video making, and all kinds of graphic design. He loved tinkering on his car and being on-line with friends. He was an avid skateboarder, through which he made many friends, and would help others learn tricks. He was on the Cherokee Committee to help plan and promote the skate park. His love of his favorite music was an important part of his personality. Jake loved his friends very dearly, enjoying many crazy antics and quiet times.
He is survived by his parents; brothers, Nathan Eldredge, and his wife Leann, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Luke, of Aurelia, Iowa; sister, Erin Rand, and her fiancée, Dustin Meyer, of Kingsley, Iowa; nephews, Logan Rand and Ethan Eldredge; grandmother Rita Beshey, of Fort Dodge, Iowa and many, many friends, who will always be part of the family, also many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
In heaven he joins his grandparents Elmer and Allene Dreier, grandpa Wayne Beshey, and his niece, Grace.
