Karen Bergert, 59, died Wednesday April 5, 2006 in Des Moines, Iowa, following a sudden illness.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M, with the family present from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.greenwoodfuneral.com .
Karen was born September 10, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa to Marion and Ida Mae (Schieuer) Hackett. She attended school in the Willow School system, graduating from Willow High School in 1964. On June 7, 1986 she married Kenneth Bergert in Meriden, Iowa. They currently resided in Redfield, Iowa. Karen enjoyed her home and helping take care of her grandchildren. Crafts were her specialty, particularly sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Nancy Dierksen, and her husband, Andrew, of Ottumwa, Iowa, and their children, Alexis and Kaylie Diercksen; a son, Paul Bergert, at home in Redfield, Iowa; brothers, Duane Hackett, and his wife, Joanne, of Lorimor, Iowa; Darrell Hackett, and his wife, Iva Jean, of Kingsley, Iowa; sisters, Delora Jean Mitchell, of Washta, Iowa; Elaine Dyslin, of Norfolk, Nebraska; Phyllis Ann Campbell, and her husband, Lee, of Smyrna, Tennessee; Carol Gerjets, and her husband, Don, of Cherokee, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
