Retired Armt Col. Floyd E. (Daddy) Dunn, 78, who was also a real estate broker, died Friday of cancer at his home in Arlington.

A 1925 graduate of the Military Academy at West Point, Col. Dunn commanded the 182d Infantry Regiment in the Pacific during World War II. He saw tours of duty in Asia, Germany and this country before he retired in 1955.

Born in Cherokee Iowa, he first came to the Washington area in 1951. From 1955 through 1972, Col. Dunn was an independent real estate broker in Northern Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of the home: a daughter, Carol McIntire of Oakland, N.J.: a sister, Della Barnes, of Cherokee; a brother, Amzey Dunn of Scobey, Mont., and three grandchildren.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to the Army Relief Fund or the American Cancer Society.
