Died from the Effects

Young Mr. Fitts, one of the victims of the threshing machine engine explosion at the Pettengill farm in Afton last Wednesday, died from the effects of his injuries at 12 o’clock on Monday night, after nearly a week of intense suffering. Barry, the engineer, is reported improving, and is now likely to recover, although he is terribly burned and bruised. Charlie Pettengill, who is also terribly scarred, is getting along quite well. Young St. John, whose eye was badly injured, stands a change of regaining the usefulness of that member. The funeral of Mr. Fitts occurs today. His young wife, who is in a delicate condition, was not permitted to see him.
