March 28, 1890 Weekly Cherokean Democrat

MARRIED

ASHENFELTER-PROCTOR

At the home of the bride’s parents in Cherokee, Thursday, May 22, 1890, Mr. Daniel B. Ashenfelter and Miss Bertha Proctor, Rev. J.W. Neyman officiating.

The contracting parties above need no introduction to the people of Cherokee. Both have grown up here from childhood and their friends are of even number with their acquaintances. The ceremony was performed at 7 o’clock in the presence of the relatives and a few friends, after which a sumptuous wedding repast was served. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Brockway, and for several years has been engaged in teaching school. Previous to this she became an expert type setter in Cherokee printing offices, so that she known how to handle the stick and rule (This has no reference to broom-stick, Dan.) Everybody known Dan Ashenfelter, the popular head clerk at A.B. Ross’ grocery, and his good qualities need not be recited. May the two hearts thus united always beat in unison and their happiest dreams become realities.
