The Cherokee Democrat, November 27, 1895
Wedded at Coggon
The Coggon, Iowa Monitor thus records the marriage of a young lady quite well known in Cherokee:
Married, at the Ryan Catholic church, Wednesday morning, November 6th, Mr. T.F. Donnelly and Miss May Powers, Rev. P.H. Ryan officiating. The bride was attended by Miss Agnes Houlahan and the groom by Mr. John Smith. After the ceremony they repaired to the home of the groom’s parents where a wedding dinner was served to the near relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The happy twain departed the same evening on a short tour to Dubuque and other points. The groom is a prosperous young farmer from our midst and is favorably known by all, while the bride is one of our best young ladies, prominent in society and surrounded by a host of friends. They have the congratulations and the best wishes of their many friends as they launch out on the sea of matrimony.
