divorce records

No luck in getting cooperation from court in Mason City on possible divorce record for Kezia and David Simkins, 1895-1905. Response from my direct inquiry was to get someone local to research. One of your kind genealogical society members tried to get info for me, but staff at courthouse was totally uncooperative.
Does anyone have influence or any suggestions? I live 1200 miles away and really need this information. Visited in 2002, but limited time kept me at cemetery, courthouse on other search, etc.
