ROCKWELL - Solemn requiem high memorial mass for Sgt. Daniel E. Cahalan will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a. m. at Sacred Heart Church at Rockwell.
Sgt. Cahalan, son of Mrs. Dan Cahalan of Rockwell, died April 26, 1951, while a prisoner of war in North Korea.
The Young man was called to duty Sept. 29, 1950, and was reported taken prisoner Feb. 12, 1951.

Sergeant Cahalan was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 12, 1951 and died while a prisoner on April 29, 1951. His remains were not recovered. Sergeant Cahalan was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
NOTE: Sgt. Cahalan was the son of Daniel Maurice and Margaret B. (Conrin) Cahalan.
