WOMAN DIES IN DOUGHERTY

Mrs. Charles Dougherty, 82, Will Be Buried Thursday.

DOUGHERTY -- Mrs. Charles DOUGHERTY, 82, whose husband was a son of the founder of the town of Dougherty, died at 9:15 o'clock Tuesday [April 13, 1937] night at her home. She had been ill for two years.

Ellen KENNEDY was born April 15, 1854, in Avon, Wis. She was married Nov. 25, 1887, to Charles DOUGHERTY, who died Feb. 9, 1918. Surviving children are Mrs. Alice McDONOUGH of Rockwell, Mrs. W. C. NIX (sic, should be NIXT) of Inglewood, Cal., Mrs. Agnes EALY of Mason City, Mrs. Z. L. RIGGINS, Mrs. W. C. BOYLE, Mrs. H. J. HOGAN, all of Dougherty, and Everett C. DOUGHERTY of Davenport. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. RIGGINS.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at St. Patrick's church at 9 o'clock, the Rev. J. J. COLLINS officiating.

DOUGHERTY DEATH

On Tuesday evening, April 13, one of Dougherty's most respected citizens, and an ideal Christian mother, Mrs. Ellen DOUGHERTY, was called to her reward. She had been ill for about two years.

Ellen KENNEDY was born April 15, 1854, at Avon, Wis. [daughter of John and Catherine (MOONEY) KENNEDY]. She came to Iowa in 1875 and taught in the rural schools of Dougherty township until her marriage to Charles DOUGHERTY, Nov. 25, 1877, at Mason City, by the Rev. M. CAROLAN. Mr. DOUGHERTY preceded her in death, Feb. 9, 1918.

Mrs. DOUGHERTY leaves to mourn her death, six daughters, Mrs. V. L. RIGGINS of Dougherty, with whom she made her home, Mrs. W. C. BOYLE and Mrs. R. J. HOGAN, also of Dougherty, Mrs. Alice McDONOUGH, Mrs. Agnes EALY of Mason City, and one son, Everett C. DOUGHERTY, of Davenport. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday morning, April 15, at 9:30 o'clock at St. Patrick's church in Dougherty. The Rev. J. J. COLLINS, pastor, was the celebrant of the Requiem High Mass, and also preached the funeral serman. The Rev. E. J. DOUGHERTY of Waterloo was present in the sanctuary. The pallbearers were Clement, Joseph and Robert McDONOUGH and James BARRAGY of Rockwell, Robert DOUGHERTY and Everett O'CONNOR of Dougherty. Interment was made in St. Patrick's cemetery.
