Monsignor Dougherty Rites Held

Funeral services for the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Edward J. DOUGHERTY, 83, who died Friday [March 2, 1951] in Waterloo, were held Wednesday at St. Patrick's church in Dougherty.

Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Father Gerald DOUGHERTY of Chicago, Ill. Father Leo O'CONNELL of Britt was deacon, Fether William LEONARD, Waterloo, sub-deacon, and Father William BARRAGY, Waterloo, master of ceremonies.

Father E. J. O'HAGEN of Oelwein gave the sermon and eulogy.

In Sanctuary

Present in the sanctuary were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. J. MALONE and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. J. BREEN, Mason City; the Rt. Rev. Msgr. R. P. MURPHY, Corwith, and Father P. J. MAGUIRE, Dougherty.

Altar boys were Donald and Donovan STAUDT. Charles HOGAN was censer bearer.

Clergymen attending the services were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. F. P. MULLIGAN, Dubuque; Father Loe LOGAN, Osage; Father Nestor GEODKEN, Mason City; Father Maurice MULLAN, Forest City; Father John REED, Father William ARQUITT and Father W. J. CHAMBERS, Mason City; Father Leo E. DERGA, Manly; Father Robert ORMSBY, Belmond; Father Karl KURT, Clarion; Father John ROSKOPF, Waterloo; Father Joseph P. MURPHY, St. Anthony, and Father R. S. BOHRER, Rockwell.

Attending the services from out of the city were Mrs. Kathryn LEWIS, Judge Charles S. DOUGHERTY, Dougherty, Miss Bea WADE, Sister Mary St. Gerald and companion, all of Chicago, Ill.

Pallbearers were Bob DOUGHERTY, Joe DOUGHERTY, Everett DOUGHERTY, Martin WADE, Raymond HOGAN, E. G. DOUGHERTY, Peter DOUGHERTY and John DOUGHERTY.

Burial was at St. Patrick cemetery in Dougherty. The Colonial funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
