Father P. J. Boyle rites on Tuesday

Solemn requiem Pontifical high Mass will be celebrated for Father Patrick J. BOYLE, 79, at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell.

Archbishop J. J. BYRNE of the Dubuque Archdiosese will be the celebrant and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. J. BREEN of Holy Family Catholic Church of Mason City, the assisting priest.

Father BOYLE, a retired Roman Catholic priest, died Friday evening in a Mason City Hospital. He had made his home at Rockwell the last five years since his retirement.

Born Sept. 2, 1886, at Dougherty, Father BOYLE was the son of Neil and Margery (CAMPBELL) BOYLE. He was graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Rockwell, Loras College, Dubuque, and St. Paul's Seminary, where he was ordained June 12, 1917.

He served as assistant pastor at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque; St. Patrick's Church, Waukon; St. Mary's Church, Marshalltown, and St. Patrick's Church, Cedar Rapids. He served as pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Grundy Center, St. Mary's Church, Strawberry Point, and St. Mary's Church, Greene.

Surviving are two sisters, Sister Mary Laurentine, Dubuque, and Mrs. Wilson (Genevieve) ABEL, Mason City. There are also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation at Hogan-McKee Colonial Chapel will be from 4 p.m. Sunday until 3 p.m. Monday. After 4 p.m. Monday visitation will be at the Sacred Heart Church at Rockwell until the time of services.

Rosaries have been scheduled at 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

Pallbearers selected are nephews. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Dougherty.
