Obituary - David Bryson
The Globe Gazette
Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa
September 9, 1918FUNERAL ON WEDNESDAY
David BRYSON, for forty-four years a resident of Cerro Gordo county, passed away at 7 o'clock this morning [September 9, 1918] at his home, 510 North Jefferson avenue. Mr. BRYSON was sick but ten days, the cause of death being complications of old age.
David BRYSON was born in Ireland in 1841 and lived theer (sic) during the early part of his life. He came to America [New York, NY May 17, 1850] and to Iowa about half a century ago. He owned and operated a large farm in Lincoln township for twenty-four years, previous to his residence in Mason City.
The deceased is one of the oldest residents of this county, coming here forty-four years ago and having lived here continuously since. After he retired from active farming, he moved to Mason City in 1888. He was the last one of his family to be taken by death, his parents, brothers and sisters having all preceded him.
His devoted and faithful wife of many years, Mrs. David [Elizabeth (PEDELTY)] BRYSON, two sons and four daughters remain to mourn their deep loss. The children are: J[ospeh]. P. BRYSON, Hanley, Canada; B[ernard]. F. BRYSON, Albert City, Ia.; Mrs. [Sarah] H. B. GARLOCK, Saskatoon, Canada; Mrs. [Mary] Allen ALDRICH, Cedar Falls, Ia.; Mrs. Agnes STRICKLAND, Mason City and Miss Lois BRYSON, Mason City. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the residence, 510 North Jefferson avenue, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. It is probable that Rev. W. T. FISHER of the Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will take place at Elmwood.
