March 16, 2005

Edna L. HILL, 97, died on Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 12, at the First Baptist Church in Forest City, with Rev. Doug SNYDER officiating. Burial was in the Grant Center Cemetery in rural Clear Lake, with the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Edna L. HILL, was born on August 19, 1907, on a farm near Fertile, the daughter of Martin and Christina (ERICKSON) OUVERSON. Edna received her education in Fertile and graduated from the Fertile High School in 1923. She was united in marriage with Merle HILL in Des Moines, on July 14, 1927. The couple farmed in the Fertile area for a number of years and then bought the Forest City Auction Company in Forest City, where Edna was bookkeeper for many years.

She enjoyed entertaining friends and family and was known for her wonderful pies. She liked to golf and play bridge with her friends. Edna was a member of the Congregational Church in Forest City and sang in the Choir. She enjoyed playing the organ and for many years, on Sundays, she would play the piano at the Good Samaritan Center, sharing her gift of music with the residents. She was a member of PEO and was past president of the club. She loved to go fishing, taking many fishing trips with Merle.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Joan LANGERUD and husband, Ron and Susan BARTLESON and husband, Tom; four grandsons, Mark LANGERUD and wife, JoLynn and girls, Taryn and McKinzie; Robert LANGERUD and wife, Julie and their children, Samantha, Daniel and Ben; Anthony BARTLESON and wife, Misty and their children, Chelsea, Natessa and Miranda; Stephen BARTLESON and his children, Mitch and Paige.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard; three brothers, Don, Leonard and Harold; and a sister, Irene.
