Services Are Held At Dougherty for Mrs. Eleazer Smith.
DOUGHERTY, Feb. 5- Funeral services were held at the Coldwater Baptist church for Mrs. Eleazer Smith 78, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Foster, assisted by a former pastor, the Rev. Mr. Inman, Shellsburg. Burial was in Halltown cemetery.
Nancy Riggins was born March 6, 1853 and died after a long illness at her home. When she was two years old the family moved to Rockford, Ill., where she resided for 16 years. At the age of 18 the family came in a covered wagon to the Riggins homestead in Franklin County.
She was married to Eleazer Smith of Franklin county Dec. 7, 1871, who survives her. To this union was born seven children. Paden, Randolph, Nettie, Lucy, Eunice and Blance are living.
She was a member of a family of 14 children and four of her brothers survive her. Sherwood of Los Angeles, Pulaski of Zion City, Ill., Lewis of Minneapolis and Lorenzo who made his home with her.
She also leaves 5 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.She united with the Coldwater Baptist church of Dougherty, Feb. 19, 1900.
