Ellen Mullen

The Earth Life Ended
Mrs Robert Mullen Passed Away Friday Afternoon at 3:30 Aged 71 Years.

There were many people in Dougherty who were sad at heart last Friday afternoon, when word was received that Mrs Robert Mullen had answered the final summons and passed away peacefully to Him who ruleth over all. Others who were sadder still, were the father and children who were gathered at the bedside to bid the last farewell to mother, who was passing from them to the heavens above.

Ellen Mohohan was born in County Mayo,Ireland on June 24, 1846. She was united in marriage to Robert Mullen on February 20, 1871, at Monroe, Wis, moving from there to Franklin County, where they resided until 1892, and then moved to Dougherty, where they have lived until the time of her death.

Deceased was a member of the Catholic church all her life and was always true to the faith, living a wholesome and unselfish Christian life. She leaves a family of grown children who will look back many times to the time when they had their mother with them here on earth, and the many sacrifices she so willingly made for them. They will look back with aching hearts to that day last Wednesday- two days before death's grim messenger claimed it's toll -- when it was first known that medical skill and tender care was of no avail, and that it was only a matter of time until she would pass from the earth life to the other shore.

Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death four daughters and four sons, namely: Mrs. D. J. Dougherty and Mrs Mike McGee, and Mrs. H.H. Abegg, Mrs. Barney Dougherty, and John, Charles and Dan Mullen, all of Dougherty, and Walter Mullen of Aredale.

She also leaves to mourn her death four sisters, Mrs. Kennedy of Wyoming, Mrs.Cullen and Mrs Adams of Woodstock, Minn., and Mrs Hicks of Dougherty; and two brothers, Pat Monohan of Rockwell and Anthony Monohan of Olivia, Minn.

Her sisters from a distance were unable to attend the funeral on account of illness.
