Jack L. Brood, 61, of Clear Lake, died Monday, (September 22, 2014), at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7pm Thursday, (September 25, 2014) at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th Street, Clear Lake. There will be a celebration of life following the visitation at the VFW Hall, 219 Main Avenue, Clear Lake.

Jack, the son of Hans and Betty (Rowe) Brood, was born on November 11, 1952, in Mason City. Jack attended Clear Lake High School.

Jack was united in marriage to Lynn Holden in 1971. On October 14, 1971 they welcomed their son Josh Holden Brood. Jack later divorced and was united in marriage to Theresa (Tracy) Brood. They brought into the world two lovely daughters. Tracy Jo was born on December 25, 1985 and Megan Marie was born on April 8, 1989.

Jack worked very hard throughout his life, until he was unable. He enjoyed working at Midwest Soya with his friends and son. Jack also loved being on the road and driving semi, especially his Peterbilt. He also enjoyed going to casinos and hanging out at his friends' shop. Later in life Jack's biggest joy was to act like a kid again and spend time with his nephew, Jacob.

Jack is survived by his father, Hans Brood, of Clear Lake; three children, Joshua (Shelley, Matthew, Zachary) Brood of Clear Lake, Tracy Brood of Rockwell, and Megan Brood of Rockwell; grandchild: Joshua Brood; six sisters: Kaye Howe of Independence, MO, Linda Brood of Mason City, IA, Sandy Brood of Clear Lake, IA, Pam Huff of Clear Lake, Sherry (Danny) Kingston of Joice, IA, and Jamie Eliason-Brood of Swaledale; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother Betty Brood, a brother, John Brood, grandmothers Marie Brood and Martha Paulson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Jack Brood memorial fund or sent to 206 10th Ave N, Clear Lake, IA 50428.
