MASON CITY — Aileen Boyd, 109, of Mason City died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2007) at the IOOF Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Aileen Boyd Memorial Fund.

Aileen was born March 25, 1898, on a farm near Oskaloosa. She lived there until her marriage to Max Boyd in 1918. She was the daughter of Alvin and Theresa Pringle. Aileen attended country sch

ool through the eighth grade and later attended William Penn Academy in Oskaloosa. She then took educational training and became a teacher at the rural school she once attended.

In 1929, Aileen and Max moved to Mason City and eventually opened Max Boyd Business Machines. At the age of 80 she took up china painting. She was the senior member of the First Presbyterian Church congregation where she prepared and presented lessons for her circle. The Chautauqua Club was one of her favorite organizations.

She is survived by two daughters: Kaye Roberts of West Des Moines and Ann Moore of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max, in 1983; one daughter, Joy Vallosio; two grandchildren, Joy Ann and Mark Vallosio; and two sons-in-law, Marvin Moore and Louie Vallosio.
