Backer Dies At Dougherty

Elevator Manager Victim of Heart Attack: Rites to Be Thursday.

Dougherty- Frank Backer, 44, manager of the Farmers Elevator at Dougherty for the past 10 years, died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday afternoon.

Born in Owen Center, near here, July 8, 1892, he is survived by a wife, one son, Francis, his mother, Mrs Henry Backer of Dougherty, and two sisters, Mrs Will Esser of Dougherty and Mrs Lawrence Calbert of Dumont.

Mr. Backer was a member of the American Legion and had served overseas in the World War.

Military rites will be conducted Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. o'clock at St. Patrick's church, the Rev. J. J. Collins officiating.

We mourn the loss of our good friend Frank Backer who passed away the evening of Feb. 16.

We knew him intimately for several years and to
know him was to love him. A capable business man, and a loyal friend, a good citizen and neighbor, his going will be deeply felt in the community which he served so well. Our sympathy is extended to his family in their bereavement.
