Thomas Moran was born in county Silgo, Ireland, 82 years ago and died at his home in Geneseo township, February 12, 1913, at 10:00 a.m. of chronic Neplentes, aggravated by an attack of the la grippe.

He was married to Katherine Blake in 1866, and resided for two years afterwards in Canada, moving from there to Iowa and later locating on the farm in Geneseo, where he lived for the past 37 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Moran were the parents of eight children, five of whom are living and with their mother were present when the Angel of Death appeared.

They are Mrs. Anna O'Connor, Mrs. Kate O'Connor, Thomas, Irene and William the later residing in Chicago. The children who preceded him to "The Better Land" are James Walter, Mrs. Mary Hogan and Lilian Margaret.

Thomas Moran was a loving husband and father and kind and helping friend. He will be remembered as an upright and honorable man and his many deeds of Christian charity will long remain in the memory of those among whom he lived.

He will also be remembered as one of the pioneer settlers here and one who assisted in the building of this community of ours.

The funeral was held last Friday morning at St. Patrick's church, Rev. Father O'Reilly saying Mass and afterward delivering, the funeral sermon which was an eloquent tribute to the life of the deceased.
Interment was made in the cemetery near by.
