Gaubatz Rites Held in Church
Services Conducted for Dougherty Man (1951)

Funeral Services for Philip P. Gaubatz, 39, Dougherty, who died suddenly at his home Monday,
were held Wednesday at St. Patrick’s church in Dougherty, with Father J. Maquire celebrant of
the Requiem High Mass.

Present in the sanctuary was Father Leo Logan of Osage. Donald and Donavan Staudt were the
acolytes.

Attending the services from out of town were Mrs. Jacob Gaubatz, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Zeilske and
Peter Gaubatz, all of Steamboat Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Lawler, Chicago; Mr and Mrs Jack
Gaubatz, Rockwell; Mr. and Mrs. M. J. McLaughlin, and Mr. and Mrs. R. M. McCauley of
Mason City.

Jay and Edward Flynn, Allison; Mr. and Mrs. Randall Courbett, Shell Rock, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Murphy, and Mr. and Mrs Robert Murphy of Williams; Mr Alvin Hilpipre, Mrs. Wayne Hilpipre,
Mrs. Carl Burgin, Mrs. Anna Murphy and Bernard Murphy all of Webster City; Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Dickerson, Clear Lake, and Jack Considine, Mason City.

Mr and Mrs Charles Dailey, Mrs. Nell O’Brien, Mrs. Mary O’Brien, Will Dailey, Mrs. Harold
Allison, Greene; Mrs. Bert Hogan and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hogan, Rockwell; Mr and Mrs.
Joe Kelley, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Merfeld, Marble Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Urban Kelly, Ayrshire;
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kelly, Ruthven; Mr. and Mrs. John Flowers, Iroquous, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Kloberdanz, Osage, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Logan, Rockwell, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Logan, Mason City.

Pallbearers were Walter McGee, Earl Campbell, Francis McMenimen, Howard Smith, Darrell
Woodley, and Ray McLaughlin.

Burial was at St. Patrick’s cemetery in Dougherty, with the Colonial Funeral Home in charge.
