Services for Victims of Crashes set.

Funeral services were planned Tuesday for three North Iowans who died in weekend auto accidents.

A double funeral was to be held at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Dougherty for
Mrs. Edward L. Kaplan, 39, Dougherty and her daughter, Phyllis, 14, who were killed in a car-
train collision Sunday noon. The Rev. Ronald Axen was to officiate and burial was to be made
in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Kaplan was born Delores Logan July 10, 1918, at Parkersburg. She moved to Dougherty
with her parents in 1926 and was married there to Edward Kaplan at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Jan. 25, 1940.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Dougherty and the Ladies Aid of the Church and was president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dougherty.

Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Linda, Mary Sue and Jeanne, all at home; seven
sons, Gerald, Philip, Robert, David, Paul and Patrick and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Milford Logan, Dougherty.

Two sisters, Mrs Martin (Agnes) Mullin, Dougherty, and Mrs Leonard (Mildred) Kelley, Marble
Rock, and four brothers, Donald Logan, Rockwell; Martin and Emmet Logan, Mason City and
Maurice Logan, Dougherty, also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

Phyllis Ann Kaplan, the daughter, was born May 29, 1943 at Rockwell, she was a twin sister of
Phillip and a freshman in St. Patrick’s High School in Dougherty.
