L.L. Riggins, 74, Died Suddenly
Burial Made Monday in West Fork CemeteryL.L. Riggins, 74, a farmer in West Fork township for 39 years died suddenly at his home Thursday, Aug. 14. He had been in excellently good health all of his life and in recent years never complained of not feeling well. Thursday he had been doing his farm work and passed away shortly after driving his tractor in the farm yard.
His death was a shock to his family and many friends in this community where he was familiarly known as Roy Riggins.Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and 2:o'clock in the West Fork Evangelical United Brethen Church, Rev. J. A Ogden pastor of the church officiating with Rev. Park E. Miller of Goodell assisting. Ted Krukow and Mrs Dale Alden sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", "Rock of Ages" and Jesus Savior Pilot Me", accompanied by Mrs. Park E. Miller.
Burial was made in West Fork Cemetery. The pallbearers were Kenneth Alden, Leonard Farber, Francis Foell, William Loffelhardt Sr., Lloyd Merrick and Tracy Krukow.
Flowers were cared for by Mrs Tracy Krukow, Mrs. E. H. Messerschmidt and Mrs. Ogden Krukow.
The Wartnby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Leslie LeRoy Riggins, son of Pulaski and Verdilla (John) Riggins was born in West Fork Township, Franklin, County, Iowa, on March 15, 1878. He grew to manhood in the West Fork and Dougherty vicinity. On Feb. 26, 1908, he was married to Clara Banker and for the next five years they made their home in Waterloo, where their only son Worth, was born. In 1913 they moved to the farm in West Fork township where he resided until his death Thursday Aug. 14.Surviving are his wife, Clara, his son Worth, a sister, (Dilla) Mrs Ted Hall of Bancroft, Wis., and a half sister, (Ruth) Mrs Harry Perian of Zion City, Ill. A brother, Carrol died three years ago and his parents died many years ago.
