MASON CITY — Monica Ann Gasca, 43, of 421 N. Monroe in Mason City, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with Father Craig Steimel Officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. with a Parish Wake at 6 p.m. on Monday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

Following the funeral, Monica will be cremated. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.Fullertonfh.com .

Monica was born November 17, 1968, in Mason City to parents Modesto and Josephine Gasca. She lived her entire life in Mason City, where she graduated from Mason City High School 1987. After high school, Monica attended La James Beauty School to become a cosmetologist. Monica was in the profession of cosmetology for 24 years, and also taught classes at the La James Beauty School in Waterloo. She was most recently working as a self-employed cosmetologist out of Trade Secret in Mason City.

Monica spent a lot of time at the Renew Center, where she enjoyed dancing and participating in activities. She also liked crocheting, listening to religious music, working on Sudoku puzzles, traveling to California to visit her sister Micaela, going for walks, and was a huge Cowboys fan. Monica loved her pets Butterscotch and Beyoncč. She also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Monica proudly supported Elijah, a close family friend, as he performed in plays at Stebens Children’s Theatre, and was looking forward to watching him this Sunday.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Modesto and Josephine Gasca of Mason City; sisters, Melinda “Mel” Gasca of Mason City, Micaela “Mikki” Morse and brother-in-law Tim Morse of Antioch, Calif.; grandmother, Enacia Gasca; godmother, Ramona Reynozo; close cousins, Lou, John (Kelly), Frank, Tom, and Henry Barragan, Aunt Carmen Alvarez, Aunt Carolyn Huston, Uncle Daniel (Ortencia) Barragan, Uncle CR (Noel) Barragan, Uncle Lupe (Maria) Barragan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her paternal grandfather Luis Gasca and maternal grandparents Henry and Julia Barragan preceded her in death.
