MASON CITY -- Henry M. Gaubatz, 67, of 549 9th SE, formerly of Dougherty, died Wednesday (May 1, 1985) at home.

Mr. Gaubatz formerly worked at Tyden Feed Mill and Schreckengost Hardware in Dougherty. He had worked as a crane repairman for Republic Steel Co. in Chicago, Ill., for 30 years.

Born June 6, 1917 at Eldora, he was the son of Jacob and Dorothea (Schwalm) Gaubatz. In 1936 he graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School, Dougherty, and then was employed on his brother's farm near Dougherty.

He served with the military police in the Army during World War II at Pine Bluff, Ark., and married Rose Cunningham on Dec. 3, 1942 in Pine Bluff, Ark. They lived in Dougherty until moving to Chicago, Ill., in August 1953. They moved to Mason City in November 1984.

Mr. Gaubatz was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church here and the Steel Union of the Republic Steel Co.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Highway 18 East, with the Rev. James King officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd NE, Mason City, where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; three daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Patricia) MacDonald, Dolton, Ill.; Mrs. James (Rosemary) Kozlowski, Calumet City, Ill.; and Mrs. Jack (Evelyn) Carlson, Whiting, Ind.; three sons, Robert and David, both of Mason City, and Thomas, Mundelein, Ill.; eight grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. M.J. (Magaret) McLaughlin, Mason City, and Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) McCauley, Sioux Falls, S.D.
