August 04, 2016MASON CITY — Nordyce Galindo, 96, of Mason City, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mason City.
Per her wishes she has been cremated and graveside service will be held at a later date. {Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa]
Nordyce Galindo was born Nov. 23, 1919, on a farm south of Joice, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Christina (Back) Olson. She attended rural schools and graduated from Joice High School in 1937. She married Carlos Galindo March 26, 1940, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Clear Lake. They lived in Mason City 75 years and operated Galindo Electric.
She was a member of Epiphany Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Her hobbies were sewing dolls, quilting, and keeping a family journal. Nordyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Nordyce is survived by her three daughters, Deanna (Warren) Miller, of Rancho Mirage, CA., Rita (Tor) Bratteng, of Newport VA., Jean (Dr. Mike) Rourk, of Reidsville, NC.; four sons, Joseph (Ethel) of Anoka, MN., Anthony, of Mason City, IA., Morris (MaryLou), of Mason City, IA., and John (Inge) Galindo, of Cathedral City, CA.; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Nordyce was preceded in death by her husband Carlos, parents, two sons, Brian and Charles Galindo; daughter, Rose Tigges, and sister, Enid Slattum.
