March 29, 2009MASON CITY - Joshua "Josh" James Hershey, 27, of Mason City, died Thursday (March 26, 2009) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A funeral service for Josh will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at First United Methodist Church, 119 Georgia Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St., N.E., Mason City. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the church.
Joshua James Hershey was born Dec. 14, 1981, in Mason City, the son of Tina (Hershey). Josh was baptized at First United Methodist Church in Mason City. Josh attended and received his education in the Mason City Community Schools. During his life, Josh worked for Dimensional Graphics, Graham Manufacturing, The Other Place, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar, and Carlos O' Kelly's, all in Mason City.
Josh enjoyed camping, golfing, frisbee golf, video games, fishing and music, but he especially enjoyed hanging out with his family and many friends.
Those that are left to cherish his memory are his mother, Tina Carlson of Woodstock, Ill., his step-father, Chad Carlson of Woodstock, Ill.; his brother, Trey Carlson of Woodstock, Ill.; his sister, Amber Tickal and special friend, John Blackmore, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; his grandparents, Dorothy and Neil Hershey of Mason City; his step grandparents, John and Barb DeWall of Mason City; a special cousin, Alex Hershey of Mesa, Ariz.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other cousins, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and other family members.
