Bryan F. Taylor, 82, passed Friday, May 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 E. Elm St., Rockwell, with the Rev. Rodney Allers as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell, where military honors will be provided by the Gallagher American Legion Post No. 208 of Rockwell.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Rockwell. A scriptural wake service will be held at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Newman Catholic School or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell.

Bryan was born to Bryan C. and Carolyn Taylor in 1931 in Adrian, Minnesota. “Junior” as he was known in Minnesota, was the ninth of 10 children. Bryan graduated from St. Adrian High School in 1949 and then enlisted in the Army. After his military service, Bryan worked with his brothers farming near Adrian.

In 1958, Bryan married Mary Ann Baumann of Whittemore, Iowa. In 1962 the couple began farming near Rockwell and in 2008 they moved to Mason City.

Bryan served in various organizations in the faith community including Sacred Heart Parish Council, Cursillo, Renew, Newman School Board, Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), Citizens for Educational Freedom and Christian Family Movement. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Cerro Gordo County Pork Producers.

Bryan loved his faith and his family. He enjoyed events involving Newman Catholic School, Minnesota Twins, Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, baseball, and any events in which his children or grandchildren participated.

Having been born into a farming family, Bryan developed his love of agriculture at a young age which accompanied him throughout his entire life. Countless hours were spent tending to the land and livestock. Even throughout his retirement Bryan stayed actively involved with the farm.

Bryan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; five children: Patsy (Mark) VanGampleare, Colorado Springs, Colo., Theresa (Greg Socha) Taylor, Minneapolis, Minn., Bob (Wendy) Taylor, Mason City, Carolyn (Curt) Schmidt, Indianapolis, Ind., and Bryan Taylor, Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Jamie VanGampleare, Wauwatosa, Wis., Stephen, Sam, and David VanGampleare, Colorado Springs, Colo., Ben Taylor, Sioux City, and Keegan and Ely Taylor, Mason City. Also surviving are siblings Jerry (Lucille) Taylor, Sister Brian Taylor, Jim Taylor, Carroll Taylor, Bill (Dee) Taylor, Gene (Marva) Taylor and sister-in-law Evelyn Taylor.

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan C. and Carolyn; three brothers, Earl Taylor, Lloyd “Paul” Taylor, and Father Robert Taylor; and sisters-in-law Joan, Lorraine and Beverly.

The Taylor Family wishes to thank all Bryan’s caretakers. With their assistance Bryan was able to remain at home with the love of his life.
