Marjorie J. Rippentrop, 79, of Rock Falls, IA, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday October 27, 2014, at the Old Stone United Methodist Church, 1 W Jackson St, Rock Falls, with Rev. Wendy Johannesen and Rev. Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City.
Interment will take place in the Rock Falls Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Marjorie Rippentrop memorial fund in care of the family.
Marjorie J. Brown was born September 6, 1935, in Mason City, the daughter of Theodore and Marjorie (Morse) Brown. She graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1954. Marjorie lived in Idaho, California, Oregon and Colorado before returning to Iowa. In 1956,
Marjorie married Robert Nelson and to this union two children were born, Brad and Suzanne. She later married Nyle D. Rippentrop on July 28, 1984 in Rock Falls.
Over the years, Marjorie worked at Bell Telephone Company, Hardware Mutual Insurance Company and Headquarters Salon & Spa as a beautician before her retirement.
Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and dancing. She also enjoyed the competitiveness of scrabble and card games as long as she won. She was an intragal member of the Old Stone United Methodist Church where she belonged to worship committee as well as many other roles within the church. She was also a member of 20/30 and 16 Club. Marjorie had many quotes she liked to live by including “Happiness is in wanting what you have not having what you want.”
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 30 years: Nyle Rippentrop of Rock Falls; 1 son; Brad Nelson and wife Julie of Mason City; daughter; Suzanne Nelson of West Des Moines; step-daughter: Laurie Rollfeson and husband Al of Coon Rapids; step-son: Pat Rippentrop and wife Michelle of Cedar Falls; 6 grandchildren: Anthony Harvey, Alexis Harvey, Marcus Harvey, Taylor Nelson, Chase Nelson and Kevin Rippentrop; and 1 great granddaughter Sophia Lynne Nelsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Burton, Bob, and Stanley.
