Charles Norbert Lenhart, the son of John and Christine (Nilles) Lenhart, was born on Oct. 23, 1909, in Clarion, Iowa. He spent most of his childhood in South Dakota, where he also attended country schools. He worked all over the country, and traveled a great deal before moving to Mason City, Iowa, where Charlie met Virginia Manning. The couple was wed on Jan. 3, 1946, in Mason City.

While living in Mason City, Charlie raised his family, and he worked for Gibbs Cook as a painter. Charlie and Virginia moved to Clear Lake in 1968, and in 1984 Virginia passed away. After retirement, Charlie opened the South Point Saw Shop, and remained active sharpening saws until 1990. On Sept. 26, 1987, Charles was united in marriage with Barbara Verhuel at Clear Lake. They remained in Clear Lake their entire married life. Charlie was a member of St. Patrickšs Catholic Church in Clear Lake, and he loved to spend his free time fishing, dancing, being a carpenter, and listening to or watching Minnesota Twins games. He was indeed their biggest fan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Lenhart of Clear Lake; his children and their families, Linda Halvorsen and her husband, Tim of Forest City, their children, Benjamin, Daniel, and Genevieve Halvorsen; Sue Snyder and her husband, Bill of North Richland Hills, Texas, their children, Kristine Johnson and Victor Snyder; and Tom Lenhart and his wife, Coleen of Houston, Texas, their children, Erica, Brian, and April Lenhart; and a brother, Art Lenhart of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia in 1984; two sisters, Sally Rotter and Betty Lenhart; and two brothers, John Lenhart and a brother in infancy.
