Connie Darlene Quitney, 80, of Mason City, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating.

Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Connie Quitney Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com

Connie was born May 2, 1936, in Hanna City, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Bonnie (Welch) Swadinsky. She attended public schools in Hanna City and Farmington, Illinois.

Connie married Paul “Ed” Fitzgerald in 1952 and to this union 5 children were born. In 1975, Connie married Richard “Dick” Quitney and a family we became. Connie and Dick delighted in their children and grandchildren. They shared their home in Mason City and later their lake home in Minnesota. Connie enjoyed her family, wintering in Arizona and traveling with her beloved husband, Dick. Some of her interests included reading, movies, listening to music, watching musicals, quilting afghans and the Minnesota Twins. Connie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Connie’s love of family will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Connie is survived by her children, Paul (Diane) Fitzgerald of St. Michael, MN, Patti (Gary) Petersen of Rockwell, Pam (Dan) Osgood of Mason City, Michael Fitzgerald and Danny of Schaumburg, IL, Jim Fitzgerald of Des Moines, Nadine (Tony, deceased) Pals of Mason City, Debbie (Jennifer O’Brien) Quitney of Fresno, CA and Russell Quitney of Clear Lake; 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister and brother, brother, Marvin and his wife Lois; grandson, Daniel Pals; son-in-law, Tony Pals; nephew, Mike Swadinsky and her husband, Richard in 2011.
