Anna M. Northrup, 83, of Mason City, Iowa, died Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Ed Bard, chaplain of Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. Inurnment will take place at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Anna Northrup memorial fund in care of the family. Anna was born October 5, 1929, in Mason City, the daughter of Cecil W. and Elsie (Balduf) Shunkwiler. She attended Mason City schools and later attended Beauty School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On February 14, 1949, Anna married Dale L. Northrup in Cedar Rapids. The couple moved to Mason City in 1969.

Anna enjoyed spending time with her family — especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to the radio, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, cooking for her family and in her younger years bowling. Anna was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Anna is survived by four children: DaleAnn Dusheck and husband Russell of Mason City, Mark Northrup and wife Maggie of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Jeffrey Northrup and wife Lori of Vancouver, Wash., and Terry Northrup of Waterloo, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Sandy Northrup of Mason City; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dean Shunkwiler of Mason City, Wanda Wood of Oregon, Elsie Wilson and husband Bill of California, Glenn Shunkwiler and wife Rita of Osage, Iowa, Paul Shunkwiler of Osage, Bobbie Shunkwiler of Mason City and Jerry Shunkwiler of Texas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale, in 2003; son: Brian Northrup; siblings: Dorothy Young, Peggy Lou Shunkwiler at age 3; Bruce Shunkwiler in infancy and baby girl Shunkwiler at birth.
