Ronald Arnold Schroeder, 85, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Per Ron’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Military honors will be provided by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868 at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

An open memorial has been established in Ron’s name to be distributed among various local organizations.

Ron was born August 17, 1932, the son of Ernest and Minnie (Koenig) Schroeder in Mason City. He married Nancy Ann Juhl on March 22, 1953, in Clear Lake.

Ron grew up and attended school in Mason City. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. At a young age, he began driving semi for King Brothers. Later he worked for Plagge Truck Line and most recently NTI Limited in Clear Lake.

Ron enjoyed fishing and taking camping trips, especially to Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy Schroeder of Clear Lake; four children, Doug (Debbie Frechette) Schroeder of Dothan, AL, Kimberly Johnson of Clear Lake, Vickie (Kurt Kemmerer) Schroeder of Clear Lake, and Jeff (Mary) Schroeder of Ventura; seven grandchildren, J.D. (Jesse) Schroeder, Tucker (Shelby) Schroeder, Trisha (Carl) Schroeder, Robbie (Becky) Bohn, Spenc (Robin) Schroeder, Stac (Jess) Schroeder, and Jess (Robert) Andersen;

twelve great-grandchildren; three nieces and their families, Debbie (Frank) Blanco, Julie Rodriguez, and Ginger (Jeff) Collard; and a brother-in-law, Delbert “Sonny” (Viola) Juhl.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie; and four brothers, Marvin, Gene, Kenny, and Ernie.
