Marvin “Butch” Allen Davis, 76, of Mason City, IA died Saturday, May 27, 2017, peacefully at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with a one-hour prior visitation on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. SE, with Pastor Art Zewert officiating.

Interment will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Marvin was born on April 6, 1941, in Cresco, IA to Leon and Ida (Queel) Davis. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years before he was honorably discharged. Not long after, Marvin landed a construction job which later led to his Construction Superintendent position. Marvin traveled globally to places such as Africa, China and the South Pacific, building turbines.

After retirement he resided back in Cresco, IA until he met the love of his life, Patricia. The couple was united in marriage on September 21, 2012 in Mason City and then resided in Mason City together.

In his free time, Marvin loved collecting coins, ducks unlimited and Duke’s train sets. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and liked watching John Wayne. Marvin was a member of the American Legion in Mason City and Masonic Lodge in Garden City, KS.

He will be remembered for his very striking, sparkly blue eyes and giggly laugh. Marvin’s family was extremely important to him and they will all miss him dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia Davis of Mason City; children: Kevin (Kathy) Davis of Longmont, Co, Susan (Todd) Howe of Senatobia, MS, Shannon Davis of Green Bay, WI and Chris (David) Gleason of Mason City; grandchildren: Andrew (Rashel) Howe, Hayley Howe, Allen Tyler Howe, Luke Davis, Crystal Gleason, Savannah Gleason and Chuck Cornelius; great-grandchildren: Colby Howe, Aaron Howe, Gianna Verhalen and soon to be great-grandson Connor Howe; sister, Evelyn (Wilbert) Mohlis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Ida Davis; two sisters, Bernice Minear and Ellen Quandt; and grandson, Thomas Cornelius.
