Richard 'Dick' Charles DeRock May 16, 1941 - July 19, 2017
Richard “Dick” Charles DeRock, 76, of Mason City, died Wednesday (July 19, 2017) at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Hospice of North Iowa, in Mason City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, (July 29, 2017) at Epiphany Parish- St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th St SE, Mason City, with an Epiphany Parish Clergy officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, (July 28, 2017) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City.
Memorial contributions may be directed Humane Society of North Iowa.
Richard Charles DeRock was born on May 16, 1941 to Leon and Marian (Nugent) DeRock in Mason City. He graduated from Saint Joseph High School, class of 1959. Richard worked along with his father, Leon, at the Leon's. In 1964, he enlisted in the National Guard of the United States. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Richard worked as an over road truck driver from 1975 until his retirement in 2013.
He enjoyed sprint car auto racing.
Richard is a member of Epiphany Parish-St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Richard is survived by his brother, Roger (Susan) DeRock; two nephews, Joe and Chris DeRock and niece, Mindy (Mark) Sandilands; two great nephews, John and Ryan Sandilands and two great nieces, Anne and Jane Sandilands.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Marian DeRock; maternal and paternal grandparents, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
