Arthur Paul Wagner, 90, of Mason City, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia Ave., with the the Rev. Kathleen R. Moore officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave.

Arthur Paul Wagner was born Jan. 30, 1926, the son of John and Tillie Wagner in Cathay, North Dakota. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1944. Arthur enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 1944 serving his country as a clerk in New Orleans until his honorable discharge in August of 1946.

On Oct. 8, 1949, Arthur was united in marriage to Florence Irene Hubacher at the First United Methodist Church, Mason City, Iowa. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Arthur was employed at Coca Cola Bottling Co. for 38 years.

Arthur enjoyed sports whether he was playing or watching. He played basketball in high school and as an adult at the YMCA. He played fast pitch and slow pitch softball and was inducted into the Mason City Softball Hall of Fame. Arthur enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, reading and especially spending time with his family.

Arthur is survived by two sons, Gary (Helen) Wagner of Mason City, Doug Wagner of Mason City; two daughters, Sally Wagner of Mason City, Sarah (David) Hubka of Belmond; one sister, Pearl Miller of Clear Lake; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tillie Wagner; wife, Florence; 2 brothers, Herbert and Dale Wagner; and one sister, Erma Formanek.
