Harold R. Trimble, 93, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, with military honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Harold was born Sept. 3, 1921, in rural Clear Lake, the son of Earl and Grace (Holmes) Trimble. He attended rural school, then farmed with his father. He married Betty Burgener on Dec. 24, 1941, and to this union had six children. He served during WWII in the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving in Italy.

After his discharge from the service he moved back to Clear Lake and worked various jobs, until he started farming in the Clear Lake area. He also bought many ‘fixer uppers” that he enjoyed fixing up and renting. After retiring he enjoyed visiting his children in Utah and Arizona during the cold months.

Harold was an avid walker and could always be seen walking around Clear Lake. He enjoyed dancing at the Senior Center, spending time with his family and listening to his daughter and grandson in their band Golden Country. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and having his friend, Lenita, help him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Nina Hepperly, Clear Lake, David (Cindy) Trimble, South Ogden, Utah, Teresa Thompson, Tempe, Az., Linda (Mike) Oletzke, Fairmont, Minn. and Daniel Trimble and his special friend, Janine, Neosho, Ms.; 14 grandchildren, Scott Hepperly, Todd Hepperly and his special friend, Pam, and Jon Hepperly and his special friend, Jennifer, Brian, Jonathan and Leslie Trimble, Grant (Nicole) Thompson, Courtney (Ed) Porter, Dylan (Ashley) Oletzke, Kelsey Oletzke, Phillip (Kristi) Trimble, Nicole Schmieder, Shelby Trimble and Josh Rettig; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lenita Houdek.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheryl Rettig; and two sisters, Betty Pettit and Jeanne Carlson.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
