Wanda J. Stephens, 90, of Underwood, IA, passed away from a stroke, Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs, IA.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, VFW in Mason City, IA.

Luncheon will follow.

Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, IA.

Wanda Jeanne (Schaffer) Aldridge Stephens was born on Jan. 29, 1926, in Mason City, Iowa, to Edward Joseph “Ed” and Hazel Dell (Kirby) Schaffer. Wanda grew up in Mason City.

Wanda married Edward Aldridge on May 5, 1943, in Mason City, Iowa, had one child, Tom. She married Max Aaron Stephens on Jan. 23, 1947, in Albert Lea, MN. They lived in Mason City and raised four children. They were married for 48 years.

She lived 68 years in Mason City, IA, then moved to Norfolk, NE for 7 years, Conrad, IA for 1 year, and lived her last 14 years in Underwood, IA.

Wanda served many years on the Women's Mason City Police Auxiliary. Her greatest enjoyment came from receiving updates and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and playing bingo.

Wanda is survived by her sons, Tom (Bobbie) Aldridge of Atlanta, IL; Patrick (Peggy) Stephens, of Omaha, NE; Mike (Laurie) Stephens, of Clear Lake, IA; Steve Stephens of Underwood, IA; step-son Larry (Sandy) Stephens of Decatur, AL; She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren along with many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband Max, her parents Ed and Hazel Schaffer, parents-in-law, Roy and Loretta Stephens, brothers Jack and Dan Schaffer, sister Shirley Jass, and sister-in-law Doris Schaffer.

Memorials will be directed by the family.
