Mary Lou A. Mann, 78, 405 27th Ave S., Clear Lake, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Muse Norris Hospice, Mason City, Iowa.

A memorial service was held Saturday, April 2, at Galilean Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jeff Ungs officiating. According to her wishes her body has been cremated. Inurnment was Monday, April 4, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa for the Hospice Garden.

Mary Lou was born Sept. 22, 1926 in Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Nicolaus and Clara (Tamm) Hollander. She attended school in Schleswig and Denison, Iowa. She worked in Sioux City.

Mary Lou married Ralph E. Mann May 10, 1947 in Seneca, Kan. They lived in Sioux City, and later moved to LeMars, Iowa in 1963. They moved to Clear Lake in 1968. Mary Lou worked at Johnson Paint and Gift in Clear Lake. In 1973 she went to work for the North Iowa Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa as a unit clerk, retiring in 1990.

After retiring, she worked with families doing home health care. She loved gardening, flowers and playing cards. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen's Center and taking road trips to apple orchards. Mary Lou loved her dog, Annie. Her church was very important in her life. The overall joy of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Mary Lou was a member of the Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.

Mary Lou is survived by her two children, Michael Mann, Denison, and Cindy Brattrud and her husband, Jeff, Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Nicole Mann, Omaha, Neb., Joshua Mann, Chicago, Ill., and Dain Mann, Ventura, Iowa; one great-grandchild, Cayden Brager and two sisters, Betty and Ernestine.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Mann on Sept. 16, 1987; one brother, Edward; one sister, Anna Marie, and an infant son.
