Marilyn Hazel Larson, 93 of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Steve Bang officiating.

Inurnment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Family suggests memorial contributions to Salem Lutheran Church Music in Lake Mills or Zion Lutheran Church Music in Clear Lake.

Marilyn was born on Feb. 16, 1924, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Johnson) Bolstad in Lake Mills. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.

Marilyn graduated from Lake Mills High School where she was a member of a trio that was awarded the first place prize at a national music contest. The trio consisted of Marilyn, Virginia (Field) Thomas and Lois (Thompson) Herwig. Following high school she attended Waldorf College and later received her nursing degree from NIACC. Her first job was with the COOP Service in Lake Mills as a bookkeeper. She later worked as a nurse for Oakwood Care Center and Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Norman Larson on Oct. 14, 1951, in Webster City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2003. They lived in Lake Mills, where she was very involved with her church and their music program. She and Norman eventually moved to Clear Lake and became members of Zion Lutheran Church, remaining active in music with their church choir.

Marilyn is survived by a sister, Ruth Flugum; a sister-in-law, Maynis Aamodt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin sisters, Alvira and Esther; and two brothers, Carroll and Russell.
