Rites Held For Robert Witwer, Local Attorney

Interment Will be Made at Cedar Rapids, City of His Birth

Funeral services for Robert M. Witwer, 64, who died at a local hospital Wednesday afternoon from heart disease, were held at the Meyer Funeral Home Thursday afternoon. The Rev. William L. Dibble, pastor of the Congregational church, was in charge of the services.

Mr. Witwer had been an attorney in Mason City since 1898, when he came here through the influence of E. B. Higley, Mr. Witwer was born at Cedar Rapids April 4, 1870, and spent his childhood there, attending the public schools and Coe College. He also attended Drake University, where he studied law and later read law in offices at Cedar Rapids.

For a time Mr. Witwer was in partnership with L. C. Rinard and later joined the firm of Senneff, Biles and Witwer, with which he was engaged 21 years. On Jan. 1, 1933, he established his own office over the Kresge store. Early in his career, Mr. Witwer was county attorney and city solicitor. He was a member of the Elks lodge.

Mr. Witwer was married to Miss Anna Fay in Mason City in 1903. Surviving Mr. Witwer are his wife and son, John J. Witwer and two sisters, Rachael Witwer and Mrs. A. A. Taylor , both of Cedar Rapids.

Pallbearers were C. R. Patton, W. AS, Wilcox, Allen Beck, W. L. Bliss, George E. Penson and John Shippley. The body was sent from the Mayer funeral home to Cedar Rapids for interment. A short service was to be held at the grave [Oak Hill Cemetery] at Cedar Rapids.
