Cecil Ditsworth, 85, of Mason City, passed away Friday, (May 26, 2017) in Mason City.

Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, (May 30, 2017) at First Baptist Church, 125 East State Street, Mason City, with pastor Scott Sokol officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, (May 30, 2017) at First Baptist Church, 125 East State Street, Mason City.

Family suggests memorial contributions to be directed to the family.

Cecil was born May 30, 1931 in Algona, Iowa, son of Harry and Ester (Jennings) Ditsworth. Cecil attended Algona schools and attained his GED from NIACC to pursue a career in law enforcement. He enlisted in the United States Army, and served during the Korean war from 1951 - 1954.

Following his honorable discharge, Cecil was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Meier) on November 6, 1955, together they celebrated sixty-one wonderful years of marriage.

During his career, Cecil worked various jobs in the Mason City area. In 1961 he started working for the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s office, retiring in 1992 after thirty-one years of service. Although retired, Cecil worked for the Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa for fourteen years as a security guard and retired in 2006. Even in retirement, he was always working on projects for family and friends.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Mason City.

Cecil was known as a jack of all trades and a master of most. He enjoyed horses, fishing and woodworking. The greatest joy he had was spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Ditsworth; five children, Mark (Sona) Ditsworth, Donita Roben Balek, Tim (Dianna) Ditsworth, Debra (Todd) Bielefeld, Julie (Randy) Holmes; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Philliss Snyder, Dorothy (Ed) Cooper, Nancy Walker, June (Jim) Long and brother, Thomas Ditsworth.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vonda King, Delores Prew, Linda Hart; brother, Theodore Ditsworth, and son in-law, Fred Balek.
