Marian U. Dahlstrom, 93, of Mason City, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kent Mechler, chaplain, Good Shepherd Health Center, officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Telephone Reassurance or Hospice of North Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Marian was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Mason City the daughter of Joseph F. and Nettie I. (Latham) Portis. She attended school in Mason City.

Marian married Harold J. Dahlstrom in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Marian worked as a machine operator at Metalcraft in Mason City for 23 years. She retired in 1987. Some of her interests included her extensive doll collection and she was an excellent candy maker. In her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening, especially roses and tulips, and bringing family together for family reunions. Marian insisted that her husband, Harold, buy a boat so the family could watch the July 4th fireworks on Clear Lake.

Marian is survived by her 3 children, Dennis R. (Kathy) Dahlstrom of Mason City, Karen J. Bridgmon of Phoenix, Arizona and Jimmy Dahlstrom of Mason City; 6 grandchildren, Jon (Ashleigh) Dahlstrom, Matthew (Tara) Dahlstrom, Jody (Bara) Roth, Holly (Bob) Farmer, Robin (Andy) Kamka and Cory (Christina) Dahlstrom; 9 great-grandchildren, Dakota, Bailey, Tristen, Kameron, Aly, Matej, Kinnick, Kayleigh and Dillin; 1 brother, Walter (Rose) Portis of Mason City; several nieces and nephews.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold; brothers, Donald and Kenny Portis; sisters, Ruby Jansen, Hazel Allen and Marjorie (Sissy) Portis.
